The BMW 1 Series Lifestyle - available as a 118d or a 120i
First up is the BMW 1 Series Lifestyle, which gets a Marakesh Brown paint job (BMW’s favourite colour it would seem at the moment – the new BMW X1 cars are all showing up in that colour), interior components in matching colour, chrome tipped exhaust and 17″ alloys. The second limited edition is the BMW 1 Series Sport, which gets an M-Sports package (including sports suspension, steering wheel and gearlever), unique double-spoke alloys and stainless steel pedals. An American driver who was fined for driving while wearing Google Glasses has had the ticket torn up. Cecilia Abadie was stopped by police in California who said the Google Glass digital spectacles fell foul of laws banning drivers from watching TV when behind the wheel. Euro NCAP has branched out from cars and crash tested a small selection of “heavy quadricycles” – small, four-wheeled vehicles that were originally developed from motorcycles that are sometimes also known as microcars, and don’t come under the usual car regulations. Although legal for use on the road, these machines do not need to achieve the same rigorous crash test safety standards as ordinary cars. But they are increasingly seen as a fuel-efficient urban transportation alternative, and some of them can be driven teenagers as young as 16.
